Burns are tissue injuries caused by exposure to heat, chemicals, electricity, radiation, or other sources of energy. They can vary in depth and severity and are classified into different degrees according to the extent of tissue damage.

Is this an emergency?

Urgent medical assessment is required for deep or extensive burns, electrical or chemical burns, burns involving the face, hands, feet, genitals or major joints, or if there are signs of inhalation injury.
