Chronic hand conditions and injuries can significantly affect comfort, productivity and work capacity. Our triage nurses and specialist plastic surgeon team work together to recommend the most appropriate treatment pathway for each injury. This may include arranging imaging or hand therapy before a specialist appointment to help avoid treatment delays and support a smoother recovery.

Not all hand injuries require surgery. Many can be managed conservatively with appropriate assessment, imaging, splinting, wound care or hand therapy.

Our triage nurses and specialist plastic surgeon team will recommend the most appropriate treatment pathway for your worker’s injury. Where required, we can coordinate telehealth or in-person consultations to ensure timely care and clear treatment planning.

In-person appointments are not always possible because of remote locations or worksite demands. Please contact our team to discuss telehealth appointment options so we can maintain continuity of care and provide timely access to specialist advice and treatment.

Hand therapy plays an important role in upper-limb rehabilitation, both following surgery and for injuries managed conservatively. It aims to support recovery, optimising strength, range of movement and sensation to help you return to work and everyday activities.

If hand therapy is required, we will arrange referral to an experienced occupational therapist specialising in hand therapy. Our surgeons work closely with Specialised Hand Therapy Services (SpHT), with 10 convenient locations across metropolitan Perth and the South West.

Please note some of our Handoc surgeons have an ownership interest in Specialised Hand Therapy. If a patient prefers another hand therapy provider, please inform the treating surgeon or nurse.
