Jersey finger is a traumatic injury to the flexor tendon of the finger, where the flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) tendon is torn away (avulsed) from its attachment at the base of the distal phalanx. This injury affects the ability to bend the fingertip joint and typically occurs following a forceful extension of a flexed finger.
